I recently visited Italy, spending two weeks in the North. I spent nearly two weeks in Aosta before heading to the beautiful Lake Como and vibrant Milan. Milan, without a doubt, stands out as one of my favorite cities in Italy.
The city is incredibly international and modern, seamlessly blending ancient Roman architecture into its landscape. It boasts an array of remarkable stores, delightful restaurants, and abundant activities to keep you entertained.
During my time in Italy, I had the pleasure of staying with my cousin in Milan for a night. We took the opportunity to explore the enchanting Christmas markets and indulge in some sightseeing. To my delight, I stumbled upon an extraordinary vegetarian restaurant where I savored a magnificent risotto. Everything went splendidly, and it was a truly memorable experience.
The next day, my cousin had to go on a work trip, so we had to wake up early. She was like, "Hey, why don't you check out this bakery near my place for some breakfast? It's one of my favorites, they've got amazing juices and pastries!" Of course, I was excited to go.
So, I walked down the street and went inside. The bakery was pretty small, but they had a great variety of fresh pastries to choose from. I ended up getting an almond brioche, a cappuccino, and a pomegranate juice. I just sat there for about an hour, passing the time.
While I was there, I thought it would be cool to book a ticket and see Wes Anderson's exhibit at the Fondazione Prada. They had some props from his latest movie, Asteroid City, on display and I was really curious to check it out! So, I went ahead and bought the ticket online.
So, about an hour later, I headed over to the cashier to pay for my breakfast. She told me the bill came out to be 13.2 euros. I handed her my credit card, and she swiped it. While swiping, she casually mentioned, "I don't think this is working." I gave her a confused look because I knew there was nothing wrong with my credit card. She decided to give it another go.
She tried again, and you won't believe it, but she made this face like she messed up big time. Then, to make matters worse, she handed me a receipt. In Italian, she said, "Oops, I made a little mistake and charged you the wrong amount. Don't worry though, I'll call the bank today and get you a refund on your card." I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked at the receipt. They charged me a whopping 1,320 euros! I was so mad!
So, she goes ahead and hands me another receipt, saying she's going to charge me for the correct amount. Can you believe it? I had to give her my credit card again, and she swiped it once more. Finally, I'm charged the correct amount. But seriously, after making such a huge mistake, how does she even have the nerve to charge me again? It's just unbelievable!
